KUCHING: The Youth wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) has been given clear recognition by the party top leaders.
Outgoing PBB Youth chief Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu said the wing is represented by a number of elected representatives, political secretaries and deputy ministers in the government.
“We have successfully delivered nine YBs (elected representatives) in the form of Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Miro Simuh, Allan Siden Gramong, Datuk Hamzah Brahim, Aidel Lariwoo, Azizul Annuar Adenan, Royston Valentine, Lukanisman Awang Sauni and myself.
“We also have two political secretaries in the form of Damen Rejek and Fazzrudin himself as the chief political secretaries to the Premier.
“As for deputy ministers, we have Dr Ripin Lamat and myself along with members of local councils and many more,” he said during the party’s Triennial General Meeting (TGM) today (June 17).
Rentap said this is first time in the party’s history that both the Youth and Women’s wing are given a lot of emphasis.
“Never before in the history of both Wings, it has been given such clear recognition, mandate and confidence by the top leadership,” he said.
Rentap said the expected amendment to the party’s constitution to set up a new Youth wing for those aged 18 to 28 is welcome news.
“This was pioneered by the Premier to empower the youth, involve them in politics and also contribute their energy for the future of Sarawak,” he said.
The Youth, Sport and. Entrepreneur Development Deputy Minister also congratulated Miro Simuh, who will succeed him as the new PBB Youth chief.
“I would like to also congratulate the new line-up of the Youth wing and I thank all for their support to me in the last term,” he said.
