KUCHING: The upcoming Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) convention will likely see all top posts uncontested.

This was revealed by PBB information chief Datuk Idris Buang who said only posts in the party’s Supreme Council will be contested.

“I think the competition will be at the Supreme Council level; the other posts are uncontested where our approach is consolidating our party.

“This is also to send a signal to all political parties in Sarawak and Malaysia that (PBB and) GPS is solid and united.

“For the posts of vice-presidents, it will not be contested – the premier is in support of this. So, there is no friction,” Idris who is the convention’s publicity committee chairman said.

He said the competition for spots in the Supreme Council is to train new leaders, preparing them to be leaders in the future.

He was speaking to reporters at PBB headquarters earlier today (June 10).

Idris said PBB is model party not only in Malaysia but across the region as it spearheads the state government which is farsighted.

“We are facing a lot of matters that we want to explore especially carbon storage and the use of spectrum which amendments to the Land Code and Forest Ordinance has been passed in the state legislature.

“This is what our leadership is looking at. We want to improve our economy, and transform Sarawak in terms of agriculture to ensure food security,” he said.

At the same time, Idris said the state government is also looking after matters pertaining to oil and gas as well as hydrogen.

“This is current vision of the premier in our efforts to fight for the people in Sarawak,” he said.
