KUCHING: Members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) were told to prepare for the 15th General Election (GE15).
PBB deputy president and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the party must help to deliver all 31 parliamentary seats to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
“GE15 may just be around the corner, I asked Fadillah (Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof), but he didn’t reveal the details.
“So, ladies and gentlemen, let us prepare for GE15 – we must be ready and ensure that we will win all 31 parliamentary seats contested,” he said.
He said this during his address at the party’s Triennial General Meeting (TGM) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today (June 17).
Uggah said GPS under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg must fulfill the promises made in their election manifesto.
“We must get projects up and running – my Ministry (Infrastructure and Ports Development Ministry) has a lot of sick projects. I have to buy Panadol to cure it,” he said.
The deputy premier also called on PBB State and Federal Ministers to also do their party to help the party’s cause in their current portfolios.
He said the Youth and the Women’s wing will have huge roles to play in ensuring victory to GPS in GE15.
“We must identify our weaknesses – we have to prepare ourselves and secondly, we must explain our policies to the people,” he said.
Uggah also reminded the members of the two wings to give feedbacks to the government and ministers on the implementation of policies.
“We need you to give feedbacks… do not wait until the elections to complain. We need you to be the eyes and ears of the government.
“We the ministers cannot see everything, so that’s where we need the Women and the Youth to assist,” he said.
