KUCHING: The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2022 is a platform for unity, highlighting arts, crafts, traditional music, traditional food, ethnic clothing and cultural performances.

The festival which lasted for three days from June 17 to 19 was jointly organised by the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) at the Sarawak Cultural Village here. It is the first time that the festival was conducted in a hybrid manner with a combination of physical and virtual performances.

Among the programmes for the first day of the festival were Cultural Wealth, Just For You, Music of Home, Reflection, Razali Kulintangan Concert and Sape Players Meeting, while the in the evening, the visitors were treated to musical performances.

This involved international artists from the United States of America, China, Philippines, Canada, Estonia, Ukraine, Vietnam, Australia, Indonesia, India, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Finland, Kenya, Poland, Benin and Madagascar.

Among them, Alena Murang, Jerry Kamit and friends, Matlew Ngau Jau and Solomon Gau, Jurij Fedynskyj, Blue Canyon Boys, Mamak Khadem, BluGuru, Ezra Tekola, Auli, Kilema, Balawan Batuan Gamelan Fusion, Chinese 24 Drums and many more.

The second day of the event saw activities such as Pinanak Sentah Concert, Bamboo Woods, Zither Magic, Learn Bollywood Dance, Ngajat Lelaki, Drum and Bass, Boat lutes, Drum Language, Power of Women, String Things, Hot Picking, Blowing It, Children’s Workshop- children, Razali Kulintangan, Sape ‘by Sape Kuching Children’s Art Association (PUSAK), Bluguru, Yoga and Sape’, Sape’ Class, as well as Tuak making methods.

The evening was graced with performances from Madih, Joey Ayala, Fauziah Gambus, Issui Minegishi and Obama Akihito, Desmond Junek, Kevin Kolodner, Shashank Subramanyam, Shamsul Sabli and Shamsulmezah Shamsul, GOAS ft Olisen, Genticorum, Jeffrey Tan, Melisande, Dongyang Gozupa, Sebangkie Panjai and more.

On the final day, the festival will feature Lan E Tuyang Concert, Stories Behind the Songs, Heavy Metal and workshops.

At night, there will be musical performances by artists such as Genggong 8 Kumpulan Sri Melanau, Flame of the Forest, Arthur Borman, Debashish Battacharya , Rining Peter Paris, Noreumachi, Warsaw Village Band Bourban Lassi and concluded with a closing ceremony.
