KUCHING: With the top posts within Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) not contested in the upcoming convention, party veteran Datuk Peter Minos said it only reinforces the message that PBB is united.
He said members within the party ranks are content with not contesting for the top posts as they believe the leadership has done well within the last term.
“It can only mean one thing – unity; genuine unity. They (the members) gave a clear indication that there was no mood nor desire to fight things out in the party. To them, party solidarity truly mattered,” he said on Tuesday (June 14).
Minos said PBB being backbone to the state ruling coalition, Gabungan Parti Sarawak has maintained peace in stability in Sarawak.
This, he said, was able to propel swift economic and social development in the East Malaysian state – earning the respect of its Malayan counterparts.
“We are reputable for being politically united, growing in terms of economy and also winning by huge margin in the last state election,” he said.
Minos, who has been a long-time party member said the unity that was fostered in the party has been part of its culture.
“Unity binds members to surmount any problem or challenges whether externally or internally,” he said.
He also added that another factor of unity within the party ranks was the respect towards the party’s history.
“It is that, and the ability to look after Sarawak, its people which is of various races, religions and cultures.
“PBB leaders have instilled confidence and trust which contributed to unity as well,” he said.
